Update on return to school, Spring term 2021
Due to the national lockdown, primary schools are currently closed:
- From Tuesday 5th January, learning for the majority of children will be online. All children have their login details in their remote learning book. Teachers will provide new learning each day and will be available until 3.30pm each day to support the learning.
- To read our information for parents about remote learning, click here. To read our policy, click here.
- The only children from YR to Y6 able to attend school will be those of critical workers and vulnerable children.
- We expect this situation to continue until at least Monday 8th March. There will be a government update on Monday 22nd February on when schools may open more widely.
- The government have worked with some mobile networks (Three, SMARTY, Virgin Mobile, Tesco Mobile, Sky Mobile, O2, EE, Vodafone) to increase data allowances where families do not have fixed broadband at home. If you have access to these networks, and you meet the criteria, please click on the link below to provide the account holder’s name, your mobile number, your mobile network and whether you pay monthly or pay as you go:
- We also have some SIM cards which will give you 30GB of data. If you need one please email the school on admin@mowlem.towerhamlets.sch.uk or head@mowlem.towerhamlets.sch.uk
Children of critical workers
Critical workers are defined by the government as parents whose work is critical to the coronavirus response in the following sectors:
- Health and social care
- Education and childcare
- Key public services (justice system, religious staff, charities and workers delivering frontline services, public service broadcasting, management of the deceased)
- Some areas of local and national government
- Food and other necessary goods
- Public safety and national security
- Transport and border sectors
- Utilities, communication and financial services
- The full list of critical workers can be found at: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-maintaining-educational-provision/guidance-for-schools-colleges-and-local-authorities-on-maintaining-educational-provision
Vulnerable children
Vulnerable children are those who are assessed as being in need by social services, have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) or are identified as vulnerable by school or the local authority.
Nursery provision
Government guidance allows us to make nursery provision available for any family who wishes to take it up. For those children at home, we will continue to offer a full remote learning programme and their place is not at risk. If you would like to take up your Nursery place, please contact the office to let us know, and we will work with you to return your child to Nursery in a way that keeps the children and staff as safe as we can, whilst still giving your child a full early years experience.
